About the Author

Linda Salisbury loves a good adventure. Whether she’s playing the cello with the Rappahannock Pops or taking in the leisurely beauty of Lake Anna and going on many a boat ride with her husband up and down Contrary Creek, she has never been one to let life pass her by. But even more than the lure of water and music, Linda Salisbury has always found herself struck by words and books. Now, with two award-winners and four titles under her belt, Salisbury has moved on to the newest adventure in her life by releasing the first book in a series for intermediate readers, which is, not surprisingly, a series geared for adventure.

About the Book
Eleven-year-old Bailey Fish, unexpectedly sent from Florida by a traveling mother to live with her grandmother in Virginia, must adjust to new surroundings. Feeling abandoned, Bailey is confronted by a neighborhood bully, whose father is out to get Bailey's environmentalist grandmother, Sugar. Bailey's life is further complicated when her teacher asks her to help the bully's little sister with reading. Bailey draws courage and inspiration from stories about the family's "wild women," including a WWI spy, to have adventures of her own. She learns about historic gold mining and what home really is.
